Dom was proud of what his daughter and Andris had accomplished. While the sight of those two obliterating four Goliaths and a group of Hybrids had been satisfying, the mission wasn’t over.

The firestorm in the wheelhouse had spread through the superstructure. Most of the aft-ward portion of the ship had turned into a giant torch, chasing away the encroaching fog. Across the deck, black smoke wafted from fires still burning from the explosives the Hybrids had booby-trapped the ship with. Not to mention the crane had landed on some temperamental piece of machinery or fuel tanks. A whole new gush of blooming flames crisped the corpses of the Hybrids and Goliaths.

Glenn had one of the Kraits in custody. The ship was going down, along with this nest of hostiles. And now they had Cobra in their sights, the purported leader of this despicable operation. There were still a good fifteen or so hostiles perched around the starboard side of the ship. They were spread out in the equipment and pipes, some of their positions obscured by smoke.

Cobra had two of his cronies beside him, close to the gunwale. They were using a stack of steel barrels to hide behind. Rachel and Rory happened to be closest to them.

“Rachel, Rory,” Dom said. “Flank Cobra with Natalie. Take him down and cuff him. Meredith, Jenna, cover. Everyone else suppress the rest of the hostiles.”

Gunfire roared around the deck. Rachel and Rory took off with Natalie in tow, disappearing into the shadows.

Dom sighted up one of the Hybrids climbing some of the deck scaffolding. A few precise shots took him down. And just like that, the group whittled away the rest of the enemy forces. They had apparently been terrorizing countless settlements and towns, wreaking havoc like raiding Vikings, disappearing into the sea before anyone could catch them.

Worse, they’d obviously been using those Kraits to do most of their dirty work.

But they hadn’t faced real resistance.

They had picked on the weak and unwary.

Now Dom and the Hunters were serving them justice one round at a time.

“Hold your fire on Cobra,” Rachel said. “Got him in our sights.”

Dom glanced to see the purported leader of this gang. The man was still focused on the Hunters near Dom’s position. One of his cronies leaned over the gunwale, wounds bleeding from his chest. The other was still firing.

A rush of movement exploded from the shadows just to Cobra’s left. Cobra’s goon tried to turn, but Rory was on him, plugging rounds straight into the guy’s chest before he could squeeze his trigger.

Natalie and Rachel both slammed hard into Cobra. The two of them disappeared behind the barrels.

“Cover me!” Dom shouted.

The rest of the team let loose a torrent of fire. Dom leapt out of his position and charged between the debris on the deck, powering past a pillar of flame, and dove behind the barrel where Natalie and Rachel were.

Cobra was on his back. His gun lay in a puddle of another Hybrid’s blood. Natalie and Rachel each had one of his arms pressed flat against the deck.
